Mary Elizabeth Richley 1933-2024

YOUNGSTOWN — Mary Elizabeth Richley, 90, passed away peacefully of natural causes Sunday morning, May 12, 2024, at Humility House in Austintown, where she was staying temporarily.
She was born on Oct. 26, 1933, in Youngstown, to Anthony and Anna Frank.
She was a lifelong resident of Youngstown, living in the same house from 1957 until her death. She was a 1951 graduate of Rayen High School and married Ralph Richley on May 14, 1955, in Youngstown.
Mary and Ralph briefly lived in Brier Hill, where both of their families lived before moving to the West Side of Youngstown in the Spring of 1957. Mary Elizabeth worked at Lustig’s shoe store in downtown Youngstown before finishing nursing school and was employed as a nurse for 35 years at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
Mary also worked as a docent at the Butler art museum and was an usher at Powers Auditorium. She was an avid reader who loved books of all kinds and frequented the Mahoning County library. Mary and Ralph loved going to parties and were very socially active in their younger years. They loved to travel and spent many vacations in Florida or at their lakeside cottage in Delroy, Ohio.
She is survived by her youngest brother, Joe (Barb) Frank of Salem; her son, Gregg (Rosa) Richley of Poland; her daughter, Faith Richley, who served as her primary caregiver the past few years; sisters-in-law, Eunice Richley of Fernandina Beach, Florida, Jean Frank of Austintown and Betty Frank of Matlacha, Florida; grandsons, Jason (Ally) Richley of North Port, Florida, Joel (Michelle) Richley of Greenville, South Carolina, and Eric Richley of Columbus; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; parents, Anna and Anthony Frank; brothers, Richard of Matlacha, Florida, and Tony and sister-in-law, Theresa Frank of Austintown; in-laws, Rose and Vincent Richley; sister-in-law, Virginia Keiffer; brother-in-law, Phillip Richley; sister-in-law, Phyllis; and brother-in-law, John “Zar” Zarlenga.
The family would like to thank Mom’s caregivers, Susan, Erin and Lucy, and Jessica, as well as Harmony Hospice Care.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at St. Anthony Church, 1155 Turin St., Youngstown. Calling hours are 9 a.m., with the funeral to follow at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024, as we remember Mary Elizabeth.
