Ruth L. Rothman Tully 1962-2024

PUEBLO, Colo. — Ruth Lee Rothman Tully, 62, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024.

Ruth is survived by her son, Jack Tully of Pueblo and Colorado Springs, Colorado; her brother, Stuart (Kathie) Rothman of Boardman; and sister, Ellyn (David) Roberts of Canton.

She was predeceased by her parents, Ronald and Norma Rothman of Youngstown; her nephew, Jeremy Rothman of Youngstown; and her dear friend, M.J. Wardle. She also is survived by nieces and nephews, Allie (Anthony) Jania, Hannah Roberts and Jamie (Alex) Carsel; and great-nephews, Nathan and Corey Jania.

Ruth was born Feb. 19, 1962, in Youngstown. Even from a young age, Ruth was always surrounded by a wide and wonderful group of friends. From her time in Girl Scouts to her extensive athletic endeavors, she developed lifelong friendships. Her knack for making great friendships stayed with her wherever she moved and whatever work or activities in which she was involved.

Her moves included stops at Kent State University, Youngstown State University and the U.S. Army, which led to the start of a career in her first IT / project management job with MCI in Reston, Virginia. Her career took her to Cary, North Carolina, then back home to Cleveland, building working relationships and more lifelong friendships.

She eventually moved to Colorado Springs, made it her home, started a family and developed more great lifelong relationships. Eventually, she changed careers and took a position at Jack’s school as a PARA professional, working with preschool and special needs kids.

Shortly after becoming ill, she moved to Pueblo, Colorado, where she fought hard, defied all the odds, and in so doing was able to see and support her son in graduating high school and starting a career as an electrician. In Pueblo, she again forged new friendships, but this time with all her neighbors in Bella Vista, who provided her with much love and support throughout the end of her journey.

Her family would like to thank all of her friends for the wonderful support they gave her and all of us, from as far back as grade school and throughout her entire life. We would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to Pete Tully and Joan Barickman for their caring and support of Ruth. This is a testament to the way Ruth led her life and the way she would like to be remembered.

Ruth’s memorial service will held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Montgomery & Steward Funeral Chapel, 1317 N. Main St. Pueblo, CO 81003. The service will also be live-streamed on her obituary page.

A celebration of life will be held closer to Ruth’s home in Ohio for family and close friends in late July.
