BOARDMAN — Marsha Jane Rudnicki Schlais, 74, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, July 17, 2024, at Hospice House.
Marsha was born in Youngstown on March 22, 1950, a daughter of the late Thomas Rudnicki and Rosemary Beidelman Rudnicki, and was a lifelong area resident.
After graduating from Cardinal Mooney High School in 1968, Marsha worked full-time at the Industrial Steel Co. for seven years and attended Youngstown State University part-time. In 1985, Marsha became the office secretary at St. Stanislaus Church and eventually the office administrator. She served her church in these positions for over 30 years.
Marsha was the kind of person who gave 100% of herself to the people and the things she believed in and loved. She was a born organizer and planner, and loved planning events for her family and her church.
She either served as the president or an officer of many organizations at St. Stanislaus Church throughout her lifetime. Marsha also served as a lector, a Eucharistic minister, a religion teacher and a member of the St. Cecilia Choir. Needless to say, Marsha’s heart beat as one with St. Stanislaus Church until the church closed in 2020. Following the church closing, she became a member of St. Columba Parish.
Marsha is survived by her beloved husband of almost 50 years, Deacon Michael Schlais, whom she married Aug. 31, 1974; her daughter, Melissa (Dan) Milush of Boardman; her son, Michael (Danielle) Schlais of Newton Falls; four grandchildren, Daniel, Audrey, Jacob and Michael; two brothers Thomas (Susan) Rudnicki of Poland and Richard (Allison) Rudnicki of Medina; and a sister, Cynthia (Jack) Bermann of Canfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her beloved uncle, Ed Rudnicki; as well as other aunts and uncles.
Family and friends may call 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown, where a funeral service will take place at 1 p.m.
Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown.
