Carolann Guglielm 1946-2024

THE VILLAGES, Fla. — Carolann Guglielm, 77, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024, as the result of a tragic accident.

Carolann was born in Youngstown on Dec. 3, 1946, to Ralph J. Guglielm and Helen Suszczynski Guglielm. She is survived by two sisters, Rosemary Rogers of The Villages and Luann Infante (Ronald) of Canfield; and a brother, Ralph Guglielm of San Jose, California. In addition, she was blessed with four nephews, James, Mark and Jeffrey Rogers, and Ralph Guglielm III; and a niece, Elena (Infante) Kessler, all of whom she loved dearly. Carolann is also survived by her life partner of over 30 years, Ralph Gingery of The Villages.

Carolann was a member of the Class of 1964 at Ursuline High School. She graduated from Seton Hill University in Pennsylvania, earned a Master of Music degree from Youngstown State University and a Ph.D. in musicology from the University of Maryland.

Her early employment included a position as on-air announcer for WYSU at Youngstown State University. After moving to the Washington, D.C., area, Carol’s main career was as a senior copyright registration specialist at the U.S. Copyright Office. While there, she also greatly enjoyed giving tours of the historic Library of Congress building as a docent.

Music was the central passion of Carolann’s life. She was an accomplished pianist and organist, as well as a superb soprano vocalist. She loved musical theater and served as an accompanist and music director for musical productions, both at the Youngstown Playhouse and in The Villages.

She was active in the American Guild of Organists and served as dean for the Washington, D.C., chapter, and was on the board of the Central Florida AGO.

Carolann was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother-in-law, James Rogers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in The Villages.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of Carolann’s life 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2024, at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, 3701 Starr Center Drive, Canfield.

A private burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
