Manuel J. Castro Jr. 1966-2024

CAMPBELL — Manuel J. Castro Jr., 58, passed away Monday, Sept. 30, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.
Manuel was born April 6, 1966, in Youngstown, the son of Manuel J. Sr. and Barbara Switka Castro.
He was a 1984 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School, where he was a member of the National Honor Society.
Manuel was a member of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish and was an altar server at the former St. John The Baptist Church.
He enjoyed collecting baseball cards, comic books and stamps. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and Browns. He loved his first car, a 1978 Trans Am, which was his pride and joy.
Manuel will be deeply missed and always remembered by his mother, Barbara Castro; his sister, Melanie (Jeff) Roche; his nieces, Macey Roche and Brittany (Joe) Strawinski; his nephew, Jeffrey Roche; great-nephews, Landon, Beckham and Nolan Strawinski; and his godmother, Judy Furgan.
Besides his father, Manuel J. Castro Sr., he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Benjamin and Rose Wolfe Switka, John and Mary Castro Fabrizi, and Manuel Castro.
The Castro family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell and will receive friends and family 10 to 10:45 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish, 159 Reed Ave., Campbell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, officiated by the Rev. Thomas Kraszewski.
