Carol Tallman 1942-2024
YOUNGSTOWN — Carol Agnew Tallman, 82, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024.
Carol was born July 1, 1942, to Elbert and Betsy Agnew.
She graduated from Boardman High School and went on to earn a teaching degree from Bowling Green State University, where she joined Delta Zeta sorority and was affectionately nicknamed “Aggie.” She graduated from BGSU in 1964.
In 1968, Carol married John Leslie Tallman in Baltimore, Maryland. Together, they had two sons, Michael and David.
Carol went on to earn her master’s degree in education and dedicated 38 years as a beloved grade school teacher at Gibsonburg Elementary. Throughout her career, she was an active member of the Ohio Education Association and the National Education Association. Carol also participated in the Daughters of the American Revolution and Soroptimist International. She loved staying in touch with her former students through Facebook and remained connected to her family’s business, Agnew Farm Equipment, working alongside her father, uncles and later her brother John after she retired from teaching.
One of Carol’s greatest joys was baking Christmas cookies and selling John Deere toys at the Canfield Fair.
Carol is survived by her sons, Michael and David; her grandchildren, Jesse, Jack, Arcadia and Sarafina; her brothers, John and Robert Agnew; and her sister, Sally.
Besides her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband, John Tallman.
In lieu of services, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to one of the many organizations Carol cherished.
