Carroll B. Howdershelt 1955-2024

LORDSTOWN — Carroll B. “Chester” Howdershelt, 69, passed away peacefully into eternal rest Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

He was born Oct. 19, 1955, in Grafton, W.Va., the son of the late Earnest Howdershelt and Wanda Lee Simons Howdershelt.

Chester loved hunting and fishing, and always enjoyed working on vehicles — if it didn’t work, he made it work. He had so many friends that he loved and cherished. Chester was so generous at heart that he would give you the shirt off his back.

He lived most of his life in Lordstown and worked at General Motors for more than 20 years, retiring in 2010 due to health issues.

Chester was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Scott Lee.

His cherished memories will be carried on by one son, Justin Grimm; siblings, Everett (Barbara) Howdershelt, Evelyn (Don) Lee, Barbara (Jeff) Evans and Neil (Cheryl) Howdershelt; grandchildren, Justin Grimm, Hannah Grimm and Ezraelia Grimm; nieces and nephews, Chris (Renee) Lee, Jason (Erin) Lee, Kevin (Kirby) Lee, Grant (Devonna) Howdershelt, Kerri Lynn Boyd, Sarah Burbridge, Samuel Howdershelt, Esther Chitwood, Michael (Devon) Bucher, John Paul (Justine) Bucher, Shawn Evans, Philip (Keri) Howdershelt and Emily Howdershelt; great-nieces and great-nephews, Collin Lee, Cecelia Lee, Lillian Lee, Lincoln Lee, Michael Lee, Sydney Opatken, Larissa Lee, Gabriella (J.R.) Rivera, Lauren (Dan) Calai, Ryan (Sofia) Lee, Kayla Boyd, Leah Boyd, Evan Boyd, Clayton Burbridge, Lillian Burbridge, Landon Burbridge, Seth Howdershelt, Chloe Howdershelt, Ethan Chitwood, Olivia Chitwood, Claire Howdershelt, Quinn Bucher and Memphis Bucher; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, Alexandria Lee, Pruitt Lee, Scottie Lee, Caroline Calai, Peyton Calai, Dani Calai, Roman Rivera, Lucia Rivera, Leila Opatken, Jaxon Opatken, Mia Boyd and Mason Boyd.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life service will be at a later date.

He will be laid to rest with his parents in Lordstown Cemetery.
