Charles A. Whitmore 1929-2024

Together again

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Charles Albert Whitmore, 95, passed away early Saturday morning, Nov. 23, 2024, at Masternick Memorial.

Mr. Whitmore was born Feb. 24, 1929, in Pittsburgh, Pa., a son of the late Arthur and Gladys Gilbert Whitmore. At the age of 4, Charles’ family made their home in Youngstown.

Charles had a strong work ethic and worked for numerous companies in the area. He began by delivering milk for Boardman Dairy, and went on to work at Youngstown Garage and W. B. Pollock Company as a crane operator. He later worked for Youngstown Sheet & Tube Company, as well as LB Foster Company. Charles completed his career at Wheatland Tube Company as manager in the electrical sales division. He retired in 1995 after 20 years of service.

His wife, the former Nancy Thomas, whom he married March 31, 1951, passed away Oct. 30, 2015.

He leaves three children, Kris (Debra) Whitmore of Poland, and Kip Whitmore and Kim (Jose) Campos, all of Jackson, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Jason, Marc, Ross (Amanda) Whitmore and Brielle Campos; and four great-grandchildren, Alex, Kristopher, Peyton and Aria.

In addition to his parents and wife, Charles was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur Whitmore Jr.

Charles’ family will receive friends 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024, at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Pol

and, where a eulogy and closing prayer will be conducted at 6 p.m.

Charles will be laid to rest beside his wife Nancy in Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown.
