Daniel F. O’Connell 1940-2024

He was born in 1940 to Daniel O’Connell and Edith Makin O’Connell, who have both predeceased him.

Daniel joined the Marine Corps at the age of 17 and served our country for seven years before being discharged and joining Union Local 66 to be an operating engineer.

Daniel had a deep love of reading, history, Ohio sports and especially animals. He was a member of the Marine Corps League and AOH Irish Catholic Fraternity.

He leaves behind his son, Michael O’Connell, and his wife, Jodi Binsley O’Connell; three daughters, Ellen O’Connell Unger, and her husband, Keith Unger, Karen O’Connell, and her husband, Thomas Harris, and Colleen O’Connell Magreta, and her husband, Matthew Magreta; as well his grandsons, Nathan Unger, and wife, Meredith Magee Unger, and Jordan Unger.

Daniel also leaves behind his sister, Sharon O’Connell Carbon, and her three children, Angela, Renee and Daniel; and as he was Irish, countless cousins and relatives.

Calling hours will be 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024, at Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman, followed immediately with a remembrance service.
