Diana S. Burich 1948-2024

Diana was born Aug. 24, 1948, in Clarksburg, W.Va., a daughter of Lewanna Miles Hersman, and was a Struthers resident for most of her life. She was a 1966 graduate of Rayen High School.

She started her career in the insurance industry in 1966, right after graduating from high school. Her first position was a clerk and she worked her way up to the vice president level at several different insurance agencies, starting with Vagnozzi Pipino, and progressing to Frank B. Hall & Co., Pipino Insurance Agency Inc., James S. Pipino Insurance Agency, Gallagher Pipino Inc., L. Calvin Jones, and finally, John B. Booth. While at the Gallagher Pipino agency, she worked on the San Francisco 49ers NFL team account. Her level of success was hard-fought in the male-dominated industry of the times.

Diana obtained her Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designations. During her career, she was able to meet countless lifelong friends and travel the country.

She enjoyed her family and especially her grandchildren, along with gardening and traveling to the beach.

Her husband, George Burich, whom she married Nov. 6, 1970, died Nov. 3, 2008.

She leaves a daughter, Kris (Pat) Walsh of Ravenna; and three grandchildren, Dillon, Alexis and Kelsey Walsh. She also leaves behind her sister, Debra (Walter) Walker; a brother, David Hersman; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and her mom, she was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Hersman.

Friends and family may call 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, 2024, at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland, OH 44514, and from 10 until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2024, at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Poland Riverside Cemetery, next to her husband.
