Irene A. Starr 1930-2024

Together again

NORTH LIMA — Irene A. Starr, 94, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024.

She was born June 17, 1930, in Youngstown, a daughter of Michael and Anna Dubrosky Faddock.

Irene and Michael J. Starr were married by the Rev. Peter Oleksiw at Holy Trinity Church in Youngstown, on Feb. 7, 1948. She was a member of St. Jude Church, Columbiana, and a former member of St. George Church, Lisbon.

Mrs. Starr was a homemaker. Years ago, she worked in retail and also briefly as an aide in the county nursing home. Irene maintained many rentals locally and in Florida over the years. She also previously owned and operated their farm southeast of Lisbon.

Irene enjoyed taking short trips, bingo, playing cards and the casino. She also enjoyed many years traveling to Florida, maintaining their rentals and gardening. Irene Starr was a wonderful person at heart and very kind-hearted. She devoted her life to her family and loved them dearly.

She will be lovingly remembered by her five children and family, Michalene (Len) Weiszer of Poland, Veronica Cochran of Randolph, Stephanie (Ron) Crumbacher of Dayton, Pamela Roberts of Columbiana and Michael Starr of East Liverpool.

She is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Susie Hankinson, John (Joyce) Hvizdos, Joe Opsitnik, Mary Hvizdos, Helen Bosak and Gerri Hvizdos; nine grandchildren, Tiffany (Jim) Skowronski, Danial (Amy) Evans, Jeni (Mike) Smith, Clifford (Carrie) Cochran, Mark (Morgan) Crumbacher, Christine Crumbacher, Jamie (Lee) Roberts, Katlyn (Lish) Adams and Anna Star; and nine great-grandchildren, Ethan and Ryan Skowronski, Elliot John Evans, Sofia and Clayton Smith, Jack and Claire Crumbacher, Alisha Roberts and Isaiah May. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and friends.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Michael, April 27, 2023; sister, Dorothy Rossi; brothers-in-law, John Rossi, Frank Hvizdos, Tom Bosak, John Mihalko, Joe Hankinson, Frank Hvizdos and Paul Hvizdos; and sisters-in-law, Bernice Mihalko, Ruthann Hvizdos, Josie Opsitnik and Annie Molnar.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024, at St. Jude Roman Catholic Church, Columbiana.

A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with Father Chad Johnson officiating.

Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery, Columbiana.
