Irene L. Ginnetti 1931-2024
STRUTHERS — Irene L. Ginnetti, 93, passed away peacefully at her home, Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 26, 2024.
Irene was born July 3, 1931, in Hillsville, Pa., the daughter of Felix and Nettie Braun DiLullo. Raised in Lowellville, she graduated from Lowellville High School as part of the Class of 1949, where she held the esteemed position of prom queen in 1948.
On July 1, 1950, Irene married her beloved husband, Herman Ginnetti. Together they made their home in Lowellville until 1960, when they moved to Struthers.
Irene found immense joy in her roles as a wife and mother to her eight children. Later, she cherished her role as a grandmother and then great-grandmother.
She was a gifted cook and was known for her wedding soup and pizzelles. Irene generously opened her home to her children’s friends and always shared her homemade cookies with the neighborhood children.
In addition to her culinary talents, Irene enjoyed polka dancing with Herman, indulging in scratch-off lottery tickets and solving jigsaw puzzles. A sports enthusiast, she passionately supported the Cleveland Browns, Indians, Cavaliers and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, as well as all sporting events associated with Struthers.
She was always present at her grandchildren’s extracurricular activities and sporting events, cheering them on with pride.
She was a proud member of Christ Our Savior Parish-St. Nicholas Church in Struthers, actively engaging in the Altar and Rosary Society and enjoying weekly bingo nights with her best friend, Mary McLandrich. As a charter bingo player at St. Nicholas, her contributions to the community were heartfelt.
Irene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, leaving behind a legacy of love for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman, who passed away May 15, 1993; two sons, Philip and David Ginnetti; a daughter-in-law, Missy; and three sisters, Marian Ziccardi, June Fallat and Helen Wildes.
Irene is survived by her two daughters, Linda Ginnetti and Irene (Joel) Lariccia, both of Struthers; her four sons, Daniel (Maria) Ginnetti of Poland, Richard (Mike) Ginnetti of Royal Oak, Michigan, Patrick (Tammy) Ginnetti of Austintown and Michael Ginnetti of Struthers; 12 cherished grandchildren, Joel (Danielle) Lariccia, Nicole (Mike) Firmstone, Dominic (Jennifer) Lariccia, Anthony (Rachael) Lariccia, Joshua (Kelsey), Justin (Sarah) and Gino Ginnetti, Alexa Morocco, Frank (Kaitlin) Percic, Laiken (Colin) Rausch, Kaylee and Ashlee Senvisky; and 10 great-grandchildren.
