Karen L. Mraz 1947-2024
SALEM — Karen L. Mraz, a vibrant soul born Nov. 11, 1947, in Youngstown, passed away Friday, Nov. 15, 2024.
A beloved mother, grandmother and sister, Karen’s life was marked not only by her familial bonds, but also by her unwavering faith and active participation in her community.
Karen graduated from Austintown Fitch High School in 1965. For many years, Karen dedicated herself to a fulfilling career in banking at Home Savings Bank; however, her true passion lay in her faith and the sense of community it fostered. Karen is now reunited with her late husband, Gabriel G. Mraz, with whom she was united in marriage, Feb. 14, 1970, until his passing, Jan. 29, 2021.
She is deeply mourned by her two sons, Joseph M. Mraz of Salem and Matthew D. Mraz Sr. of Youngstown; her three grandchildren, Matthew Jr., Austin and Payton; along with her great-granddaughter, Mya Marie Mraz. Karen also leaves behind her two sisters, Barbara Will of Davenport, Florida, and Margaret “Peg” Barr of Hubbard; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
