Lee W. Pratt 1934-2024
COLUMBIANA — Lee Work “The General” Pratt, 90, passed away Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024.
He was born to the late Paris and Evelyn Fortney Pratt on March 9, 1934, in Grant Town W.Va.
He enlisted in the Air Force in 1956. After the Air Force, he came to Columbiana in search of work. He began dating Ruth Anne Moore in Daybrook, W.Va.; they were married in 1958 and eventually settled in Columbiana.
He retired from work in Lordstown in 1996 after 31 years. Around this time, he and his wife started a DJ and karaoke business and were best known as “The General Lee and Ruthie.” He was a past commander of the VFW Post 5532 in Washingtonville and was a longtime member of the American Legion in Leetonia, as well as other clubs in the area.
The General was a lifelong Cleveland Browns fan and was frustrated with them until the end. He enjoyed golfing, trips to Vegas, and helping his friends and family. He was often the life of the party and always had a story (joke) to tell.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Ruth Pratt; his son, Mark Pratt; and his grandson, Jeremy Pratt; as well as siblings, Pete (Edna) Pratt, Jack (Evelyn) Pratt and Glenna “Toots” (Bill) Owens.
He is survived by his son, David Pratt; daughters, Allison (Mark) Horvath and Lu Anne (Jason) Bumgardner; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Per his request, no calling hours or funeral service will be held. A tribute to The General will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be sent to the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Association at www.info-komen.org/goto/Lee_Pratt.
