Lillian B. Riley 1934-2024

AUSTINTOWN — Lillian B. Shay Riley died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024.

She was born May 6, 1934, in Parker Pa., the daughter of Russell and Myrtle Goodman Shay.

She worked as an electrocardiograph technician for 11 years at Youngstown Hospital Association before marrying John Riley, who passed away in 1963.

In addition to her husband, John, Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; significant other, Dr. Dwight Gere Watkins; and brother, William.

She is survived by her sisters, Marie (James) Bernlohr, Erma (Harry) Barber; son, John (Rebecca) Riley; daughter, Maureen (David) Riley-Behringer; and grandchildren, John, Tatiana, Jack and James.

Lillian was a 21-year volunteer for MVI Hospice who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, singing with the Notables, walking with Silver Sneakers, playing ukulele with the Yukaholics, volunteering for the Rescue Mission, ushering with the Youngstown Playhouse, attending AARP functions, summer concerts in the park, and lunching with friends and neighbors.

The family will receive relatives and friends 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024, at Lane Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, with a service at 6 p.m.

The services will be followed by private burial in Parker, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Adoration Hospice, Independence, in her memory.
