Marilyn Kay Kilar, 1941-2024
HUBBARD — Marilyn Kay Kilar, 83, died Monday morning, Nov. 11, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
She was born Aug. 29, 1941, in Farrell, Pa., a daughter of Daniel and Rose Theisler Miller.
Mrs. Kilar, a graduate of Farrell High School, was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. She was the owner of Kilar Fabrication in Hubbard for 40 years, retiring in 2005.
Marilyn was a Cub Scout troop leader, a member of the Herb Guild, the American Business Women’s Association and the Hubbard Opti-Mrs. In the 1970s, she won many awards for her cooking. She was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan and a season ticket holder for over 40 years, and traveled to Ireland and England to watch them play in multiple Super Bowls. She was also an avid reader.
She leaves her husband, Thomas Paul Kilar Sr., whom she married Jan. 9, 1960; a daughter, Kelly (Brian Breckenridge) McGill of Canton; four sons, Tom Kilar Jr., and his wife, Marikay of Hubbard, Paul Kilar, and his wife Maria of Hubbard, Bob Kilar, and his wife Christine of West Middlesex, Pa., and Bill Kilar, and his wife Su of Hubbard; a daughter-in-law, Sue Kilar of Hubbard; a sister, Margaret Caracci of North Carolina; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dan Kilar Sr.; and two brothers, Dan and Paul Miller.
Family and friends may call 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, at the Kelley-Cummins Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at noon Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Dave Coxson officiating.
Entombment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
