Marlene A. Duran 1952-2024
COLUMBIANA — Marlene Ann Duran, 72, passed away Sunday, Oct. 27, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
Born Aug. 9, 1952, in Youngstown, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Ann Rose Suhar Maskarinec.
Marlene was a graduate of Wilson High School. Afterward, she obtained her certificate in radiology from The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. She spent most of her life working as an X-ray technician for St. Elizabeth and Mercy Health hospitals, and was known for her extraordinary care and compassion.
On April 15, 1978, Marlene married the love of her life, John G. Duran Jr., and together they shared 42 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2020. John and Marlene were blessed with their sons, Erik and Scot.
She was a member of St. Jude Roman Catholic Church in Columbiana. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, caring for her and her sons’ pets, decorative crafting, gardening, playing cards and cooking for all those she loved. Above all, she cherished her moments being a loving wife and mother.
She is survived by her two sons, Scot Duran of Lyndhurst and Erik Duran of Minot, North Dakota; and brothers, Dr. John (Dr. Ann) Maskarinec, Dr. Ronald (Dolly) Maskarinec and David (Yolanda) Maskarinec.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Michael John Duran.
Calling hours will be 10 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024, at St. Jude Roman Catholic Parish, 180 Seventh St., Columbiana, OH 44408. A memorial Mass will follow at 11 a.m.
