Martha T. Largent 1943-2024
CANTON — Martha T. “Marty” Largent, 81, passed away peacefully, Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024.
Born in Findlay, on Jan. 26, 1943, Marty dedicated 30 years to educating young minds. She began her career as a music teacher in Leetonia in 1976 and went on to teach middle school math and science for Youngstown City Schools. After retiring, she continued her career by working with the Youngstown State University Department of Education, evaluating student teachers. Her knowledge and skills left an indelible impact on countless lives.
Marty found joy in music, particularly the clarinet. She studied at The Ohio State University School of Music and later completed her education degree at Youngstown State University. Her love for crafting was expressed through her exquisite knitting and crocheting work which demonstrated her creativity and attention to detail. Many were lucky enough to receive these finished products as gifts, but she also enjoyed exhibiting them at the Canfield Fair.
A devoted member of Faith United Methodist Church, Marty’s faith was a guiding force in her life, shaping her values and relationships. Her most cherished role was that of a loving mother and grandmother, where she found joy and fulfillment in caring for and playing with her grandchildren.
Marty was raised on a farm in Findlay, providing her with both the physical and mental strength required to navigate life and a respect for all things that grow. She had a green thumb and enjoyed nurturing gardens, various flowers and herbs. She was an amazing cook and everybody looked forward to receiving her famous Christmas fudge.
Marty’s kindness touched the hearts of all who knew her. Her legacy of dedication to family, passion for education and love for music will forever be remembered and cherished.
