Patricia A. Moewe 1947-2024

McDONALD — Patricia “Patsy” Ann Tadla Moewe, 77, passed away Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, after a short illness.

Patsy was born Feb. 13, 1947, in Youngstown, a daughter to the late Nicholas and Irene Yakimoff Tadla.

She was a 1964 graduate of McDonald High School, where she excelled in math, and was a cheerleader and a member of the Royal Swan synchronized swimming club. She attended Bowling Green University to continue competitive and synchronized swimming, with swimming remaining a lifelong passion.

Patsy was a computer programmer for Ohio Edison before leaving the workforce to raise her beloved son, the late Bruce M. “BJ” Moewe Jr. After rejoining the workforce, Patsy held various positions for the U.S. Postal Service until her retirement.

A talented seamstress, Patsy sewed countless outfits and costumes for family, friends and their children. Patsy was known for her love of the color purple, and later in life, her fashionable hats and eclectic gifts.

Patsy leaves to cherish her memory, her grandson, Colton J. Moewe of Lakewood; brothers, Nicholas M. Tadla, with whom she shared her home, George S. Tadla of Morrison, Colorado, and James A. (Melissa) Tadla, also of McDonald; stepchildren, Edward Kalosky Jr. and John Kalosky, both of Youngstown, Paul (Jamie) Kalosky of Savannah, Georgia, and Aaron Thistlewaite of Seattle, Washington; along with five nephews and three nieces.

Along with her parents and son BJ, Patsy is preceded in death by her longtime companion, Edward Kalosky Sr.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to Patsy’s brother Nick for the loving care he provided.

The family will receive family and friends 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, at Blackstone Funeral Home, Girard, with a memorial service following at 3 p.m.
