Peg Dahman 1945-2024
BOARDMAN — Peg Dahman, 79, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 11, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at The Cleveland Clinic, after a courageous battle with congestive heart illness and breast cancer.
Peg was born June 7, 1945, in Youngstown, the beloved daughter of Nan and John McDonough, and granddaughter of Margaret “Gram” and Carl Conway.
She was a graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and Youngstown State University
Upon graduation, Peg worked at a hospital in New Jersey before working for various doctors in the Youngstown area, but spent the majority of her career working for Lab Corp during her 44 years as a laboratory technologist.
She was faithfully married to her husband Charles for 51 years.
Peg was an avid animal lover. She had two schnauzers, Clancy and Buffy, and had a love of birds, with two parakeets and a talking cockatoo named “Killer.”
Peg was an avid fan of Youngstown State University football, spending many a Saturday tailgating at YSU home games, Notre Dame football, the Cleveland Browns, Youngstown Phantoms hockey and Pittsburgh Penguins hockey.
Peg was a mother of two and a wonderful grandmother of three. Peg enjoyed shopping, cooking, going to the lake with their boats and trips to Myrtle Beach, and going out to dinner with her family, going out dancing with her husband and sharing his love of classic cars. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, whether it was in the kitchen cooking with her granddaughter Lexi, going to every school event for all her grandchildren, or attending Williams and Breen’s ice hockey games.
Peg coached her daughter’s soccer team for seven years and her son’s team for five. Later, she traveled for many years as part of the Youngstown Phantoms youth hockey and Team Ohio traveling youth hockey league.
Peg’s passion in life was to spend time with her family. Peg will be greatly missed by all who knew her and her passing has left a void in the hearts of all who were touched by her.
Peg is survived by her husband, Charles; daughter, Michelle Dahman Lovitz (William); a son, Chris; and three grandchildren who meant the world to her, Alexis Lovitz, William Lovitz and Breen Dahman.
