Tracy Harris 1969-2024

GARFIELD HEIGHTS — Tracy Murphy Harris, Ph.D., born Dec. 3, 1969, in Youngstown, departed from us Sunday, Nov 10, 2024.

She was the daughter of Michelle Posey and Alex R. Murphy (Barbara); the beloved mother of Amber and Christopher Harris; the sister of Alex E. (Dana) and Charissa Murphy; and the aunt of Lennox Murphy.

In her youth, she was an active member of Third Baptist Church in Youngstown.

Tracy was a graduate of Chaney High School. She furthered her education at Youngstown State University, where she became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.

Later, she attended Cleveland State University and obtained her master’s and doctorate degrees. She had been a teacher in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and was employed at the time of her passing at Constellation Eastside Arts Academy, Cleveland

Dr. Harris was committed to helping young people develop to their full potential, especially those with special needs. She published a book to help students address the hurdles and challenges of getting prepared to attend college.

Those who knew Tracy well can attest to her creative and artistic abilities. She was very adept in computer applications, building websites and creating marketing materials.

Tracy loved pets, especially her dog, Rusty, and a number of cats adopted by her and her children.

She will be missed by all who loved her, especially for her vibrant personality and kind spirit.

A celebration of life service for Dr. Tracy M. Harris will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, with family receiving friends at 1 p.m., at Lucas Memorial Chapel, 9010 Garfield Blvd., Garfield Heights, OH 44125. The celebration of life will be live-streamed at www.lucas
