Byron M. Greenwell, 1966-2024

CANFIELD — Byron M. Greenwell, 58, passed away unexpectedly Monday evening, Dec. 23, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

Byron was born April 12, 1966, in Sacramento, California, the cherished son of the late Robert Byron Greenwell and Noni Rhea McKinley Fulton. He moved to the Youngstown area as a child and graduated from Austintown Fitch High School in 1984.

For over 30 years, Byron honed his craft as a talented carpenter, leaving behind a legacy of skilled workmanship.

Byron was a man of many talents and interests. A phenomenal woodworker, he created four “Greenwell Guitars” from scratch and could often be found tinkering or repairing things. He had a deep appreciation for antiques, particularly Persian rugs, pottery and vintage furniture, and he was passionate about vintage electronics like tube amplifiers and audio equipment. An eternal learner, Byron possessed a vast knowledge of various subjects and loved to share stories, often laced with his sharp sense of humor.

In the kitchen, Byron excelled as an effortless and inventive cook, recreating recipes with flair. Outdoors, he found joy in gardening, riding his John Deere tractor and exploring Lake Milton and Lake Berlin alongside his beloved wife, Amber, affectionately called “Peachy.” Byron also had an eye for the finer things in life, cherishing silk jackets, handmade textiles, fine tequila and exceptional food. A skilled musician, he found solace in playing the guitar and in the simple pleasures of spending time with his family and friends.

Byron is survived by his loving wife, Amber Tumbri Greenwell, whom he married Oct. 7, 2016; his sons, Byron (Laura) Greenwell Jr. of Uniontown and Cameron Dombrowski of Columbus; his cherished grandchildren, Makinley, Alayah and Gio; his in-laws, John and Regina Tumbri of Savannah, Georgia; his best friend, Brad Smith; his beloved cat, Paisley; and many extended family members and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Cathy Watson.

Per Byron’s request, there are no calling hours or services.

Byron’s laughter, creativity, and passion for life will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May he rest in peace.
