Filomena, also affectionately known as Phyllis, was born March 10, 1938, in Youngstown, a daughter to John and Josephine Isgro Tamburelli.
A proud graduate of East High School, Phyllis devoted much of her professional life to working in various nursing homes throughout the area; her caring nature shone brightly in her roles in the dietary and kitchen staff. Her commitment to helping others extended beyond her career; she was known for her generosity and compassion, often giving to many organizations that supported those in need.
Phyllis was a beacon of light, embodying what it meant to be selfless and caring, and she always went above and beyond for anyone fortunate enough to know her. Family gatherings were a focal point in her life, as she cherished the time spent with family and friends. Her love for her family was paramount and she took great joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those who gathered around her for laughter and bingo felt her warmth and joyful presence. She also held a special place in her heart for her family on the West Coast, often making trips to be with them when she could.
Phyllis is survived by her loving daughter, Marie DiCesare (fiance, Michael Dodd); and her devoted son, Joseph DiCesare (fiancee, Patricia Emerson) of Youngstown, with whom she spent some time living in Florida, Arkansas and Japan. She also leaves behind nine cherished grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her loving companion, Maymay, who will remember her fondly and carry her spirit within them.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved sisters, twin sister, Rose Martino, Louise Fata and Mary Congemi; as well as an infant brother.
Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024, at Blackstone Funeral Home, Girard, with a funeral service at 6 p.m.
