Gavin J. Sahli 2003-2024

AUSTINTOWN — Gavin James Sahli, 21, died unexpectedly Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Gavin was born Feb. 25, 2003, in Youngstown, the son of James Sahli and Tresa Westfall Benchwick.

A 2021 graduate of Jackson-Milton High School, Gavin displayed a passion for sports, actively engaging in basketball and baseball during his time there. Recently, he embarked on a new career path as a sprinkler system installer for Fire Foe, demonstrating his adventurous nature and willingness to embrace new challenges.

Gavin was a sweet vibrant soul with a contagious laugh. He will be forever remembered by his family, and friends for his humorous, creative, lovable and adventurous spirit.

Gavin had a profound love for the outdoors. Whether it was golfing, fishing or dirt biking, he found joy and solace in nature. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends exploring Mill Creek Park. He had a genuine passion for physical activity that resonated with those around him. Gavin cherished the moments shared with his beloved dogs, Blanco and Oakley, who were always by his side. He brought joy to the lives of all who knew him and made the world a better place.

Gavin’s craftsmanship was noteworthy; he prided himself on being an excellent woodworker, often showcasing his creativity and meticulous attention to detail in every piece he created.

He will be deeply missed by his mother, Tresa (Barry) Benchwick of Salem; father, James Sahli of Niles; sisters, Zaina (Dylan) Tomaino of Alabama, Amanda (Aaron) Chine of Warren and Alexandra (Aidan) Elias of Philadelphia; maternal grandparents, Kristle Euans of Delaware and Richard Westfall of Millersport; paternal grandparents, Dean and Shirley Sahli of Austintown; nephews, Hayes and Louis; Aunt Julie (Franko) of Westerville; Uncles Austin Euans of Delaware and Dean (Kerri) Sahli of North Jackson; and cousins, Ricky, Sebastian, Lucas, Alexa, Drake, Izak, Kayla and Ella.

A memorial and celebration of Gavin’s life will be held at a later date in the spring.

Professional services are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
