Leona F. Lucarell 1943-2024
YOUNGSTOWN — Leona F. Lucarell, 81, departed this life Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, at the age of 81.
Born Jan. 28, 1943, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Leonard and Alice Orlando Pirozzi, Leona was a lifelong resident of the area, deeply rooted in her community and dedicated to her family.
Leona was a proud graduate of Ursuline High School. She spent her professional life as a clerk in the recorder’s office and working for the Mahoning County Recycling Green Team.
Leona was known for her kind spirit and her ability to make others feel welcomed and appreciated.
A member of St. Christine Church, Leona found solace and enrichment in her faith. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s sporting events and after-school activities. She also enjoyed cooking for the family holiday meals. Above all, Leona treasured the time spent with her family.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Debra Cavalier of Saint Petersburg, Florida; son, James (Kelley) Lucarell of Cleveland; and grandchildren, Robert and Carmen Cavalier, and Haley Lucarell.
Leona was preceded in death by her husband, James Lucarell, whom she married Nov. 6. 1965, and who passed away Aug. 15, 2022; a sister, Joann Berg; and a brother, Ralph Pirozzi.
Family and friends may call 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024, at St. Christine Church, 3165 S. Schenley Ave., where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m.
Entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
