Margaret Krygowski 1944-2024

POLAND — Margaret “Peg” Krygowski, 80, passed away Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024, at The Inn at Christine Valley, where she had been in memory care.

Peg was born in Mobile, Alabama, the second daughter of Ross and Corinne Ailes Archer. She spent most of her youth in Somerville, New Jersey. Peg was a proud Marines veteran, having received an honorable discharge in 1965. She met and married Frank Krygowski in Cartersville, Georgia, and the family moved to Poland Village in 1980. Frank and Peg celebrated their 50th anniversary at The Inn at Christine Valley.

After many years of raising children, caring for the home, volunteering and working for various companies, Peg returned to college in 1994 to become a licensed physical therapy assistant. She spent many years treating patients in clinical environments and home health visits throughout the area.

With her husband, Frank, Peg was active in the Out-Spokin’ Wheelmen bicycle club, serving as president, vice president and in other volunteer positions. For years, Peg managed food preparation for the club’s NEOC century ride during the times when rider participation topped 500. Peg and Frank were also avid members of the Friends of Poland Municipal Forest.

Peg’s sweetness and smile were treasured by all who knew her. She was a beautiful and artistic, athletic and active person, with a tremendous love of natural beauty. She was an enthusiastic gardener and landscaper and transformed their village lot into a lush and beautiful garden environment. Peg also loved fabric arts and produced many quilts and wall hangings, many of which became gifts. She crafted silver jewelry and loved reading and music, playing recorder, Appalachian-style banjo and harp.

She greatly enjoyed outdoor activities and loved traveling, walking, hiking, camping, kayaking, cross-country skiing and bicycling. With Frank and others, Peg rode many multi-day bicycle tours in Ohio, and in several European countries. With their daughter, Heather, Frank and Peg bicycled coast to coast in 2003. They were well known for riding their tandem bicycle and for walking in Poland Forest and around Poland Village.

Peg is survived by her beloved husband, Frank; by son, Michael Krygowski of Beaverton, Oregon; and daughter, Heather Roszczyk of Cuyahoga Falls. She also leaves three grandchildren, Stella Krygowski, and Henry and Juniper Roszczyk; and many extended family members, who love her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Shelby Von Canon.
