Michele Lynn Johnson 1969-2024
NORTH LIMA — Michele Lynn Swope Johnson, of Beaver Township, passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024. She was 55 years old.
Michele attended South Range schools, where she played in the band. She continued her education at Youngstown State University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in geography. Michele then furthered her education at Akron University, achieving a master’s degree in municipal planning.
Following attaining her master’s degree, Michele worked in the Beaver Township Zoning Department, eventually becoming the chief zoning official. She cared deeply about her duties and worked diligently to improve the aesthetics of North Lima and the surrounding community.
In 2007, Michele married Paul Johnson, followed by the arrival of their son, Lucas. She became a homemaker and a loving mother. Whatever Michele took on, she did so giving it her all.
She was a devoted member of North Lima Mennonite Church and loved fraternizing with the members. She would sometimes treat the members with her baked goods. Michele was also a committee member for The Cattle Barons Ball.
Michele leaves her son, Lucas; husband, Paul; parents, Don and Joyce Swope; sister, Laurie (Jeff) Andrews; and brothers, Jeff (Terri) and Chris (Barb) Swope; stepson, Peter (Rachel) Johnson; step-grandchildren, Jack and Evelyn; nieces, Ciara (Mitch) Hendricks, Rachel (Jared) Robinson, Anya Swope and Eden Swope; nephews, Josh Andrews and Declan Swope; and her constant companion, her yellow Labrador, Duke.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Jesse and Janice Hawkins; paternal grandparents, Paul and Lois Swope; and father- and mother-in-law, Paul and Louise Johnson.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2024, at North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive, North Lima, OH 44452, with Pastor Adam Shank officiating.
The family will receive friends 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that material tributes may be made in Michele’s memory to North Lima Mennonite Church or to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
