Patrick L. McNicholas 1937-2024
GIRARD — Patrick Leo McNicholas, beloved husband, father and lifelong parishioner of St. Rose Church, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, Dec. 13, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Patrick was born May 31, 1937, in Youngstown, to Alice Murphy McNicholas and James McNicholas. He attended St. Rose School, graduated from Girard High School in 1956, and attended Notre Dame College in Saskatchewan, Canada.
Before serving in the Army, he met the love of his life, Barbara Ann Wilk. They were married in 1962. Together they celebrated 63 years in the sacrament of marriage and raised three children.
Patrick worked at Packard Electric / Delphi in Warren and retired in 1999.
He and his wife, Barbara, enjoyed traveling to Ireland, living the winter months in Naples, Florida, and spending time with family and friends. Patrick also enjoyed his game of golf, playing cards with friends, building his own home, and helping his son with numerous home improvement projects.
Faith was an integral part of Patrick’s life. He served as a Eucharistic Minister, as well as bringing Communion to the homebound and area nursing homes. Throughout his entire life, he was devoted to God and family.
Patrick leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Barbara McNicholas of Girard; his brother, James McNicholas of Girard; his son, Murray and daughter-in-law, Darla McNicholas of Marysville; his daughter, Victoria, and son-in-law, Mark Mazzaferri of Canton; and his daughter, Elizabeth, and son-in-law, Tom Waseity.
Near and dear to his heart were grandchildren, Emily, Mazzaferri, Marcus and wife Mariah Mazzaferri, Maxwell and wife Corrine Esposito, Anthony Mazzaferri, Brennan Esposito, Corey McNicholas and Natalie McNicholas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Helen Rigney of Fort Myers, Florida, and Betty Jane Britt of Girard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at St. Rose Church, where calling hours will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Emmanuel Care Center in Girard.
Private interment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
