Rita J. Kramer 1931-2024

ALLIANCE — Rita Jane Kramer, 93, formerly of Struthers, passed away peacefully, Friday, Dec 20, 2024, at Aultman Alliance Community Hospital.

Rita was born Sept. 7, 1931, in Pittsburgh, Pa., a daughter of James and Jane Kramer, and was raised on Maplewood Avenue in Struthers.

She was a 1949 graduate of Struthers High School and was very active in planning her class reunions. She attended Youngstown College (now Youngstown State University) where she was a member of the Delta Chi Epsilon Sorority.

In the 1950s Rita was employed at Stambough-Thompson in Youngstown. She then was employed at Kling and Frost Architects (later known as Philpott and Smith and, finally, George Tanner Smith Associates) until 1993 when she retired as office manager.

Rita was a member of St. Nicholas Church in Struthers from 1940 until moving to Alliance on Nov. 6, 2006. At that time, she became a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church. While at St. Nicholas, she was active in starting the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) under the supervision of Monsignor Robert Fannon. She was also active in the yearly St. Nicholas Festival, the Cursillo Movement and many church organizations. She was a Eucharistic Minister as well. She was an active member of the Catholic Women’s Club at Regina Coeli.

Rita was gifted, like her mother, in various crafts and loved to read.

She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her family: her sister, Charlotte Kramer, of Alliance; nieces Mary A. Stroup of Bethel, Connecticut, Janeann (David E.) Walker of Danbury, Connecticut, and Dr. Diane Stroup of Alliance; and nephew David J. Stroup of Alliance.

Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Antonette M. Stroup, and her brother-in-law, David W. Stroup.

The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, 2024, at Regina Coeli Catholic Church.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. at Regina Coeli Catholic Church, with the Rev. G. David Weikart as celebrant.

Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Regina Coeli Church, 663 Fernwood Blvd., Alliance, OH 44601.
