Bernadette M. Berdis 1940-2025
CANFIELD — Bernadette M. Berdis, 84, passed away Wednesday evening, Jan. 1, 2025, at her residence, with her family by her side, after losing her 10-year battle with dementia with Lewy bodies.
Bernadette was born Aug. 11, 1940, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Bernard and Mary Pascarella Berdis. A lifelong resident of the area, she graduated from Chaney High School and Choffin Business Machine School in 1958.
During her high school years, Bernadette worked at Hathaway Bakery. She later held secretarial positions at Associates Financial Services, the Garden Forum of Youngstown (Mill Creek Park) and Del Realty. Bernadette retired from Tippecanoe Country Club to help raise her beloved triplet grandchildren.
A passionate reader, Bernadette also enjoyed taking bus trips with Sara Smith and camping with her partner, Ron, in Marienville, Pa., where they have a camper. However, her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren, baking, talking and encouraging them to pursue their lifelong dreams, “Till Then Grandma.”
She leaves behind her fiance, who was also her best friend and caregiver, Ron Christy; her son, Ken Christoff of Brooksville, Florida; her daughter, Cinthia (Holly Seimetz) Christoff of Canfield; and her three grandchildren, Noah, Megan and Paige Christoff. Bernadette is also survived by her brother-in-law, Richard Bezjak of Deerfield Beach, Florida; and two nephews, Scott (Jennifer) Bezjak and Mark (Michelle) Bezjak and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister, Beverly Bezjak.
