George J. Landis 1935-2024
CANFIELD — George Joseph Landis died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024.
He was born on a farm, April 15, 1935, to Margaret Landis. George was raised on the East Side of Youngstown and brought up with his grandfather and grandmother, James and Rose Landis, and his many aunts and uncles.
Most recently, George was the author of the book, “Romancing Your Audience,” and an internationally acclaimed public speaker.
He was an all-city quarterback for Ursuline High School and a member of the hall of fame for football and track; track and football coach for Howland, Warren St Mary’s, JFK, Boardman and Youngstown State University; and always a coach for his grandsons.
George was a teacher, counselor, cousin, veteran, uncle, father-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, coach and friend.
George is the husband of his loving wife, Deborah; and father of five beautiful children and five grandchildren whom he adored, Sean (Robert), Bryan, Maura (Tim), Dana, Anya (Ram), Bryan, Lance, Olivia (Stone), Jai and Nina.
He was preceded in death by his son, Bryan Landis; mother, Margaret Landis; grandparents, James and Rose Landis, Maureen Landis and Maureen Batton; aunts, Elizabeth Zagorsky and Theresa Moore; and uncles, Tony, Joseph, Norman and Thomas Landis.
The family would like to give special thanks to Brenda Elosqui, George’s compassionate caregiver and friend. We are forever grateful to her.
George had a special gift of unconditional love, something given to him by his greatest love of all, Jesus Christ.
Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, with a service to follow at 11 a.m., officiated by Rev. David Leatherberry and Pastor Rick Enlow, at the Fox Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.
