Gerald Wells 1924-2024
SPENCER — Gerald Wells passed away peacefully at home, Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024. Gerald was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was born March 23, 1924, in Youngstown, to Gerald and Rachel Wells.
Gerald attended South High School until enlistment in the Army Air Corps, where he served as a crew chief working on many different kinds of aircraft.
He married Norma Lee Williams on July 28, 1943. The couple enjoyed 77 years together and had six children, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
After WWII, Gerald worked as a machinist at Kessler Products in Youngstown for 35 years until his retirement. He then moved to Florida, where he and his sons started Prototype Plastics.
He loved water skiing, boating, reading and tinkering with anything he could find.
Gerald leaves two daughters, Jerry Lee (Fred) Smith of Struthers and Becky Chmura of Spencer, as well as many grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Norma Wells; sons, Duane, Teddy, Jeff and Mark; as well as two grandsons, Duane Jr. and Austin Wells.
Gerald and Norma will be interred in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.
A memorial service will be held March 22, 2025, at Parkside Church in Struthers.
