Helen K. Collins 1932-2025
HUBBARD – Helen K. Collins, 92, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025, at Caprice Health Care in North Lima.
Helen was born July 27, 1932, in Brooklyn, New York, a daughter of Manuel and Adelaide Fick Carvalheira, and came to Hubbard in 1955.
She retired in 1992 after 20 years of working in food service for Hubbard Public Schools.
She was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church and participated in many senior activity groups of the church, and was a former member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher.
Helen was a member of Eastern Star of Cortland, which is now Opal Chapter 181 of Cortland. She enjoyed walking and camping.
Her husband, William E. Collins, whom she married Feb. 5, 1954, passed away March 15, 1994.
Helen will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her family: her children, William M. Collins of Hubbard, Kathy (Duke) Smith of Mantua and Robert G. (Michelle) Collins of Navarre, Florida; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sister, Dorothy A. Shaw of San Antonio, Texas.
Beside her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Bob Smith; and daughter-in-law, Shellie Collins.
There will be services 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 3, 2025, with calling hours 10 to 11 a.m., at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.
Helen will be laid to rest in Hubbard Union Cemetery.
