Helen P. Matta 1943-2024

She was born Jan. 12, 1943. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1961 and went on to graduate from Youngstown State University with a social work degree in 2000.

She enjoyed being outdoors, tending to her garden and birdwatching. In her free time, she crocheted hats, blankets and scarves to donate to local hospitals. She was an avid reader and spent almost 10 years working for the local library, from where she retired.

A celebration of life memorial has been planned 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, at Pioneer Pavilion on Old Furnace Road in Mill Creek Park.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County.
