Jackson H. Williams 1939-2025
NILES — Jackson H. “Jack” Williams, 85, died early Saturday evening, Jan. 25, 2025, surrounded by his family, at home.
He was born Nov. 23, 1939, in Phillipsburg, Pa., a son of Samuel and Bernice Hoover Williams.
Jack was a 1957 graduate of Purchaseline High School and worked as an ARO (assembler) for General Motors in Lordstown for 30 years prior to retiring in 1994.
He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, enlisting when he was 19, serving for six years before receiving his honorable discharge in 1966.
Jack met his wife, the former Sandra L. Borsick, while living in Burnside, Pa., when he was 16 and she was 13, and their love affair began. They were married Jan. 23, 1960, Sandy’s birthday, and shared 65 years of marriage and many happy memories together. She always said he was her birthday gift, with no returns.
Jack was a member of the First Baptist Church in McDonald. He was a natural athlete and enjoyed all sports, especially baseball and softball, which he played until he was 75, and was a member of a travel senior softball team that won five national championships. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing, skiing, racing dirt bikes, and playing horseshoes and corn hole.
Jack and Sandy were also avid travelers, visiting California, Florida, Texas, Minnesota, Utah, Canada, and many other destinations.
Besides his wife, Jack is survived by a daughter, Natalie (Tom) Reapsummer of Girard. He also leaves behind three brothers; David (Maureen) Williams of New Jersey, Darrell (Cherie) Williams of McDonald, and Clark (Jean) Williams of Rossiter, Pa.; four grandchildren Tom (Tabitha) Reapsummer, Adam (Sarah) Reapsummer, Dan Reapsummer and Sandy (Jon) Noel; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter, expected to be born in June.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Jackson H. “Bub” Williams Jr.
Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, Jan. 31, at the Lane Funeral Home Mineral Ridge Chapel, 1350 N. Canfield-Niles Road, Mineral Ridge.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the funeral home.
He will be laid to rest in the Kerr Cemetery, Weathersfield Township.
