Jean M. Freaney 1930-2025
DUNEDIN, Fla. — Jean Marie Freaney, 94, passed away Monday, Jan. 27, 2025. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Jean was born, Dec. 11, 1930, to Bill and Vera Wallace, in Arcade, New York.
She married the love of her life, Jack Freaney, on Dec. 27, 1950. They were married for 53 years when Jack passed in 2004. Jean and Jack moved many times, but finally called Youngstown home in 1969.
Jean was a member of St. Christine Church and was involved with many groups, including Saxon Club, Jr. Seton, Infant of Prague, Southern Care Hospice and card groups.
Jean relocated to Mease Life in Dunedin, Florida, in July 2023. She quickly made many friends and was very happy there.
She is survived by her children, John (Sally) Freaney, Maureen “Moe” (Peg) Freaney and Joe (Doug) Freaney; daughter-in-law, Karen; sister, Thelma Vullo; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband Jack; her oldest son, Kevin Freaney; and her sister, Joyce.
Her life was full and she is now reunited with Jack.
Family and friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
Prayers will begin 10:15 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2025, at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Christine Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested material tributes take the form of donations to Akron Children’s Boardman Campus, 6505 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.
