John R. Siembieda 1961-2024
YOUNGSTOWN — John Robert Siembieda, 63, passed away peacefully Monday, Dec. 30, 2024, at The Cleveland Clinic, with his family by his side.
John was born Dec. 11, 1961, in Youngstown, the son of Donald and Patricia Kunovic Siembieda, and was a longtime resident of the city’s West Side.
He was a proud graduate of Chaney High School, Class of 1980, and went on to play football at Ohio Northern University. He worked for over two decades at the Youngstown Wastewater Treatment plant.
John was a committed father to his two daughters. His laugh was contagious, his hugs were warm and his advice was invaluable. He has left us with a heart full of love and a lifetime full of memories. He was a lifelong enthusiast of his children’s and grandchildren’s sports endeavors; John could always be found cheering from the sidelines, rain or shine, offering encouragement and celebrating every victory — big or small. His presence was a constant reminder that family came first.
Known for his remarkable ability to fix just about anything, John was the go-to problem solver for family, friends and neighbors alike. Whether it was a broken toy, a stubborn appliance or a tire we couldn’t get loose, he approached each challenge with ingenuity and a smile.
Beyond his practical skills, John had a gift for being there when it mattered most. He was a steady, calming presence in times of uncertainty and a wellspring of wisdom when life posed its hardest questions. He was a man who lived loudly and on his own terms; he was tough as nails and friendly as could be.
He never knew a stranger and often would run into someone he knew, even on vacation in another country! John loved the simple joys in life — sharing stories, tinkering in his garage or spending lazy afternoons watching the Cowboys in his favorite spot.
John is survived by his wife, Dana Patrone Siembieda; his two daughters, Nichole Siembieda of Youngstown and Ashley (Adam) Craddick of Columbus; his sister, Barb (Patrick) McHale of Canfield; and his four grandchildren, who will miss him immensely, RJ, Kenleigh, Dean and Elizabeth.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Pat Siembieda; and his father-in-law, Joe Patrone.
The family would like to thank the incredible team of doctors and nurses in the MICU at The Cleveland Clinic. While our hearts ache with his passing, we take comfort in knowing his love and legacy live on in the lives he touched.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of John’s Life 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, at St. George Croatian Center, 3200 Vestal Road, Youngstown, OH 44509.
