Larry Joltin 1943-2025
LIBERTY – Larry Joltin passed away unexpectedly, Sunday morning, Jan. 5, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, surrounded by his family.
Larry was always proud to be born Jan. 19, 1943, and raised in Brooklyn, New York, where he was the only son of William and Ethel Joltin.
He married the love of his life, the former Shelley Rosenberg, on Oct. 28, 1972, with whom he would go on to share over 50 years of marriage and the love through their children Ben, Adena and Joe. He was always committed to providing for his family and was a dedicated dad, grandpa and beloved friend to many.
Larry always had a larger-than-life personality and was a professional sales legend. He was immensely proud to be honored by the National Shoe Retailers Association being named “Salesman of the Year” in 1983, 1984 and 1985 while working for Reyers Shoe Store. Charles Kuralt came to downtown Sharon for his “On the Road” show; he interviewed Larry, which then led to interviews as well as him appearing on “Good Morning America” and the “Late Show with David Letterman.” Time Magazine wrote an article covering all his successful sales and the very personal touches he constantly provided to every one of his clients. In 2008, “Dateline NBC” and The Vindicator both visited with him and followed up with the undisputed “Shoe Sales Champ.”
Never a man who wanted to slow down, later in life he and his wife owned and operated L&S Windows and Safety Tile & Tub.
He leaves behind his three children, whom he adored, Ben Joltin, and his fiancee, Danielle Kiraly of Liberty, Adena McGowan, and her husband, TJ of Macedonia, Joe Joltin, and his wife, Melanie of Chagrin Falls; and by his beloved grandchildren, Jacob, Matthew, Lily, Aliyah and Zander. He also leaves behind his cherished and devoted friends, Lenny Fisher, Fran Fisher, Ron Redlich and Ronnie Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shelley, on Feb. 3, 2023; his parents; and by his sister, Miriam Vitale.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sample-O’Donnell Funeral Home, 555 E. State St., Sharon, Pa.
Burial will take place in Temple Beth Israel Cemetery.
