Louis A. Marinelli 1939-2025
CAMPBELL — Louis A. Marinelli, 85, passed away peacefully, Friday afternoon, Jan. 10, 2025. Louis was known to many as “Louie” and will always be remembered for his impeccable style, his smile and always having a story or joke to tell.
Louis was born Feb. 25, 1939, in Youngstown, the son of Joseph and Jennie Commardo-Miller Marinelli, and was a lifelong area resident.
Louie graduated from East High School and had a long career as a bartender. He was employed for years at the Moonraker Restaurant, along with many other restaurants and bars throughout the Mahoning Valley. He also was a pawnbroker for many years at Gold Exchange-Pawn World.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica and enjoyed boating, playing cards and cooking, especially all Italian dishes. He also enjoyed socializing with his family and friends, and was talented at building villages and cities that went under the Christmas tree.
Louie leaves behind to hold onto his precious memories, his children, Joseph “Joey” Marinelli and Andrea (Gary) Rohan; his two grandsons, Christopher (Kacie) Rohan and Jordan Rohan; and his beloved companion of many years, Grace Slone; along with nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
Besides his parents, Louis was preceded in death by a brother, Jospeh R. “Wootsie” Marinelli Jr.; and his sister, Anita M. Jones.
Family and friends may pay their respects 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025, at the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.
There will be a prayer service 9:20 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025, at the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mount Carmel, Youngstown, with the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio as celebrant.
