Marshall A. McCree 1943-2025

HUBBARD — Marshall A. McCree, 81, passed peacefully, Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025, at home with his family by his side.

He was born July 2, 1943, in New Castle, Pa., a son of the late Marshall and Betty Schreckengost McCree. He graduated from Lowellville High School in 1961, where he excelled with playing trumpet in the marching and concert bands.

He attended Youngstown College before enlisting in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Columbus at the Lockbourne AFB.

After his honorable discharge, he worked at IBM in Youngstown, ultimately retiring as a systems engineer.

For 25 years straight, he was a regular at the National Bowling Championship, showing off his love for the sport and his incredible skills. While playing in leagues throughout the years, he bowled several 300 games and even hit an amazing 833 series. Bowling wasn’t just a hobby for him, it was a big part of his life. He enjoyed every moment of it, especially the camaraderie that came with it.

From an early age, he found a love for fishing and being outdoors, thanks to the time he spent learning from his grandfather. That passion stuck with him his whole life. He even owned his own boat, which he loved taking out on Lake Erie, spending countless hours enjoying the water with his wife, Charlotte.

Some of his favorite memories came from fishing trips with family and friends, whether it was to nearby lakes or up in Canada. Those trips were a chance for him to relax, laugh and make great memories. Whether he was bowling strikes or reeling in a catch, he always found joy in the things he loved and the people with which he shared them.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Charlotte McCree; his daughter, Vera (Tom) Franken of Youngstown; stepdaughters, Marsha (Maroun Moussallem) Williams of Arvada, Colorado, Monica Theis of Mineral Ridge and Kelly (Dan) Ruby of Gurnee, Illinois; his grandchildren, Sarah (Zack) Lovitz, Derek Franken, Nathan and Justine Moussallem, Ally and Ryan Theis, and Olivia and Ava Ruby; great-granddaughter, Lux Lovitz; his brother, Victor (Sue) Boyer; aunt, Dolores (Eugene) Butch; along with several cousins, nephews and a niece.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Wayne Boyer; and a daughter, Angelique McCree.

Friends and family will be received 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Lowellville, followed by a funeral service beginning at noon.

He will have military honors rendered in recognition of his service to our country and will be laid to rest in Lowellville Cemetery.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at SouthernCare Hospice for the loving and dedicated care they provided for Marshall during his illness.
