Mary Lou Stricklin 1935-2025
POLAND — Mary Lou Stricklin, 89, passed away peacefully, early Tuesday morning, Jan. 7, 2025.
She was born Jan. 17, 1935, in Youngstown, the daughter of John and Mary Pitzer Manhollan, and was a lifelong Poland resident.
Mary Lou was a graduate of Poland High School and worked at Isaly’s Dairy until she met her husband, Paul. She then became a proud homemaker, taking on the role of the matriarch and always making her family her top priority.
Mary Lou was an active member of Bethel Evangelical Friends Church and enjoyed attending her class reunions. She always enjoyed walleye fishing with her husband Raymond on his charter boat at Lake Erie and traveling especially to see her family.
Mary Lou leaves behind to hold onto her memories, her children, Gary (Cindy) Bacher, Rodney (Jennifer) Bacher and Sherri (Greg) Vrabel; two stepchildren, Raymond (Lisa) Stricklin Jr. and William Stricklin; her beloved grandchildren, Matt, Paul, Erin (Leslie) and Adam Bacher, Steven Vrabel, and Kayla and Rachel Stricklin; and a great-grandson, AJ Bacher; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides her parents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Roy Bacher Jr.; her second husband, Raymond Stricklin; her son, Eric Bacher; seven brothers, John, Albert, Ralph, Cecil, Ray, Chuck and Donald Manhollan; and three sisters, Ruth Linsinbigler, Helen Treharne and Nella J. Auman.
Family and friends may pay their respects to Mary Lou 1:30 to 2:50 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, at the Thompson-Filicky Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman, where a funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., with Pastor Steve Rhodes as celebrant.
Burial will take place in Poland Riverside Cemetery.
