Olive Meese 1937-2025

HUBBARD — Olive Meese, 87, a beacon of kindness and love, passed away Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, in her beloved hometown of Hubbard.

Born on March 5, 1937, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to the late Mono Micheline and Catherine Vivo Micheline, Olive embodied the spirit of warmth and compassion throughout her life.

A graduate of Hubbard High School, Olive’s genuine personality shone brightly in her interactions. She was the sweetest, most genuine person, never speaking ill of anyone and maintaining a heart full of love for her family and friends. Her kindness was not just a trait — it was a guiding principle of her life that inspired others around her.

Olive married the love of her life, Lawrence P. Meese, Jan. 17, 1959. They shared many loving memories and ultimately, a fulfilling life together.

Olive had a profound love for her family, which was evident in everything she did. She is survived by her daughter, Genevieve (Bill) Riley, who carries forward her legacy of love and support. Olive cherished her sisters, Stella J. Litwin, Nancy Linebaugh and Mona (Harlan) Carter, whose bonds of sisterhood brought her joy throughout her life. She was a proud grandmother to Jennifer Riley and a loving great-grandmother to her two great-grandchildren, Hope Ann Marie Duley and Mason T. Duley. She also shared many memories with her sister-in-law, Annette Micheline.

Sadly, Olive is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Lawrence P. Meese; her son, Lawrence Meese Jr.; her sisters, Mary Lou Skruck and Edith Brown; and her brother, Stephen (Annette) Micheline. Though she is now reunited with her loved ones in spirit, the void left by her departure will be deeply felt among her family and friends.

Olive had a knack for finding joy in simple pleasures, often seen taking long walks relishing in the beauty of the world around her. Her ability to appreciate life’s small moments was a reflection of her genuine and nurturing spirit.

Visitation will be held in her honor from 10 until 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025, at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 357 N. Main St., Hubbard, followed by a Mass commencing at 11 a.m. As we gather to celebrate her remarkable life, let us remember Olive for her endless kindness and unwavering love that enriched the lives of those fortunate enough to have known her.

Arrangements were handled by Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.
