Thelma P. Hunt 1941-2025

NORTH LIMA — Thelma P. Hunt, 83, passed away Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, at Hospice Of The Valley- Hospice House in Poland.

She was born May 7, 1941, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Albert and Helen Mansfield Coler, and was a lifelong area resident.

Thelma was a homemaker most of the time, although she also held various jobs in the restaurant industry.

Throughout the years she enjoyed crocheting and doing various crafting projects. As a young mother, she always loved sitting with her friends around the table drinking coffee and chatting while the kids played, and then as a senior lady, she loved sitting with her friends for meals at Shepherd of the Valley Poland Assisted Living.

Her favorite excursion was going to her daughter Elizabeth’s restaurant, C’s Waffles, in North Lima, where she often ran into extended family and old friends, in addition to grandsons working.

She loved all her kids and grandsons deeply, but her great-grandsons brought her indescribable joy in her later years. We all loved her tremendously and already miss her beyond measure!

She leaves behind to hold onto her memories, her three children, Frank Hunt, Richelle (Michael) Mace and Elizabeth (Andrew) DiBacco; her beloved five grandchildren, Michael (Sarah) Mace, Vincent (Dennis) Hugenberg, Matthew Mace, Nathan (Marlo) Hugenberg and Adam DiBacco; her four great-grandchildren, Oswin and Orion Mace, and Nora and Salvatore Hugenberg; and her sister, Betty Davis; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Frank J. “Champ” Hunt; her brothers, Loren, Jim and Kenny Coler; and sisters, Carol Howard and Ruth House.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Thompson-Filicky Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Thelma’s life 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, where there will be words of remembrance beginning at 6 p.m.
