Thomas L. Watkins 1943-2025
HUBBARD — Thomas L. Watkins, 81, passed away peacefully, Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025, at Hospice House.
Thomas was born May 31, 1943, in Youngstown, a son of Harold D. and Mae Wiley Watkins.
He was a 1961 graduate of Hubbard High School.
Thomas had worked at Hubbard Golf Course, Powell Pressed Steel, Hydril, where he also served as union president, Harding Park, The Village Tavern and T & R Catering.
Thomas played softball for Hubbard VFW, was VFW Golf League president, and had a hole-in-one. He also was a member of Hello Brothers Club.
His wife, the former Carolyn S. Ruby, whom he married Oct. 26, 1998, passed away April 12, 2018.
He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his family: his children, Lisa (Brent) Groscost of Hubbard, Daniel (Kelly) Ruby of Gurnee, Illinois, Stephanie Pitts of Pennsylvania and Amy Ludwig of Florida; six grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
He also leaves his siblings, Martha (Steve) Griffith of Austintown, Ray (Nancy) Watkins of Hubbard, Dicky Watkins of Hubbard and Joyce (John) Schiraldi of Hubbard.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; stepdaughter, Kristen Cox; and siblings, Buddy Watkins, Donna McCaughan, Jack Watkins, Ralph Watkins, Janice Brininstool, Chuck Watkins and Eddie Watkins.
There will be calling hours 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.
Thomas will be laid to rest in Hubbard Union Cemetery.
