Thomas Williams 1945-2025

YOUNGSTOWN — Thomas “Tom” Williams died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, surrounded by family at St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Thomas Franklin “Tom” Williams was born on April 26, 1945, to the late Aurthur Williams and Edna James McClure.

A proud graduate of East High School, class of 1963, right out of high school Tom enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as a mechanic for four years and served in the Vietnam War.

In 1966, Tom met the love of his life, Margie Williams, and they were married on Dec. 26, 1967. Their 57 years of marriage were marked by unwavering love, mutual respect and a shared commitment to family. Together, they raised four children: Tom (Diedre) Williams of Winchester, Virginia, and John Williams, Mary (Ernie) Ramhoff and Cindy Glenn, all of Austintown. Tom’s family meant the world to him, and he found immeasurable joy in being a grandfather and great-grandfather. He cherished his six grandsons, Vincent and Kevin Gueterez, and Ernie (Shayla), Trevor (Ashley), Kyle and Devin Ramhoff of Austintown; his two granddaughters, Lexi and Tori Williams of Winchester, Virginia; and his great-grandchild, Aikka Fraizer. The time he spent with them was filled with laughter, love and countless unforgettable memories.

Tom was a lifelong, avid Cleveland Sports supporter, spending countless hours cheering on the Cleveland Browns and Indians.

His faith was at the center of everything he did. A devout Catholic, Tom dedicated much of his life to St. Joseph Parish in Austintown. As a member, Tom participated in many community support organizations throughout the Diocese of Youngstown, including the Knights of Columbus as Third Degree council at St. Joseph Austintown and Fourth Degree council member at Jesus Mary and Joseph Assembly of Youngstown, as well as Right of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). Tom was always proud to be a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, holding the position of president for many years.

After years of bravely and faithfully caring for his ill wife, Margie, just a few days after leaving the physical world, Tom has joined his love to spend eternity in the comfort of their Lord and savior.

Tom was survived by two sisters, Edna (Bill) Stranahan of Columbus and Beth Rounds of Selmer, Tennessee.

Tom was preceded in death by his late wife, Margaret Williams; his parents, Aurthur Williams and Edna James McClure; and three grandsons, Charles Gueterez, Bryce Ramhoff and Tommy Williams.

Although his physical presence will be deeply missed, his legacy of love, faith and devotion will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.

Friends, family, and all who knew Tom are invited to calling hours from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20 at Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home in Cornersburg.

A Catholic Mass and funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, at St. Joseph Church in Austintown.
