Betty Jean Brown 1935-2025

POLAND — Betty Jean Brown, 89, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, after a short illness.

She was born to Kenneth and Lillian Snyder of Quaker Street, Schenectady, New York. Betty worked at General Electric and worshiped at First Presbyterian Church. It was there that she met the love of her life, Dean Brown (who preceded her in death last summer). They celebrated 60 years of marriage last February.

First and foremost, Betty loved the Lord her God with all her heart, mind, soul and strength. She was very active in her home church in Youngstown, Cornerstone Presbyterian Church. She served the Youngstown community as she worked at the rescue mission and she continued her education at Youngstown State University.

Betty was a person who enjoyed all of God’s creation, whether it was playing a game of cards, going to a symphony or to a church picnic. But in all of this, she particularly enjoyed fellowshipping with people and sharing stories.

She is survived by her sons, Evan (Rina) and Dana (Laurie); her brother, Gary; and her six grandchildren, Erica, Alex, Benjamin, Ian, Justin and Lucas.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, with a service following at 7 p.m. She will be buried beside her husband in Reformed Presbyterian Cemetery in New Galilee, Pa., on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025.

In lieu of flowers, we request donations to Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley, 1300 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Youngstown, OH 44510, 330-744-5486, rescuemissionmv.org.

Thoughts and condolences may be sent to the funeral home website www.mccauleyfuneral.com.
