Ella R. O’Conner 1942-2025

Ella was born Sept. 11, 1942, in New Wilmington, Pa., a daughter of Earl and Sarah Axtell Anderson. She was a 1962 graduate of Mercer High School.

For many years Ella was a nursing aide at Park Vista in Youngstown.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, its women’s group and the Over the Hill Club, and a member of the Youngstown State University Alumni Association.

She enjoyed genealogy and traveling, was an avid camper with her family and loved gardening, especially her rhubarb patch.

Her husband, Mark S. O’Conner Sr., whom she married April 25, 1963, passed away July 24, 2024.

Ella will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her family: her sons, Mark S. (Sandra) O’Conner Jr. of Akron and Brian O’Conner of Burghill; and two grandchildren, Elizabeth Joan O’Conner and Amber Ruth O’Conner. Ella was looking forward to being a great-grandmother in the spring.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; son, Thomas Edward O’Conner; 10 brothers and sisters; and her favorite cat, Babe.

Services will be held at noon Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025, with calling hours 10 a.m. to noon, at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.

Ella will be laid to rest in Carpenter Cemetery in Mercer, Pa.
