Helen C. Barker 1935-2025

BERLIN CENTER — Helen C. Barker, 89, went home to be with her Lord, 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025, at her residence.

She was born in Leatherwood, Kentucky, on Oct. 22, 1935, the daughter of Clyde Sr. and Nada Holbrook Cline.

She was a 1953 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and attended Truth Baptist Church in Atwater. She was a teletypist for the Niles Daily Times newspaper.

Helen was a faithful believer of the Lord Jesus Christ and cherished activities with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her “Golden Girls” sisters.

Helen is survived by her son, Douglas W. (Debbie) Barker of Berlin Center; two grandsons, Jerod (Nikki) Barker of Mentor and Jacob (Sissy) Barker of Fort Wayne, Indiana; three great-grandchildren, Oliver, Grayson and EllieMae; two sisters, Sharlene Lanterman of Austintown and Shelby Snowden of North Jackson; brother, Phillip (Diana) Cline of Niles; special friend Marlene Meek; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry W. Barker, whom she married Dec. 1, 1956, and who died Oct. 29, 2003; daughter, Darla Edenfield, who died Oct. 15, 1988; sister, Opal Barninger; and two brothers, Clyde Cline Jr. and Edgel Cline.

Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, February 17, 2025, at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The funeral will be at noon Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2025, at the funeral home, where family and friends may also call 11 a.m. until noon Tuesday. Burial will be in Kerr Cemetery.
