Jerome Yanek 1941-2025

BATAVIA, Ill. — Jerome “Jere” Yanek, 83, of formerly of Youngstown, passed away peacefully, Feb. 5, 2025, at Delnor Community Hospital.
Jere was born July 24, 1941, in Youngstown, to Felix and Catherine (Kovach) Yanek.
Jere graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School in 1959 and joined the Air Force, where he served for four years. He later earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing and an MBA from the University of Akron. Jere enjoyed a successful career in marketing within both the tire and banking industries before retiring in 2014.
Jere was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was active in ham radio and a proud member of the American Legion Post 342 in St. Charles, Illinois. As an active member of Holy Cross Church, Jere served as a spiritual advisor for the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Jere had many passions in life including traveling, reading science fiction and mystery novels, and listening to old-time radio programs.
Jere is survived by his loving wife, Nell (Perry) Yanek; his children, Jerome “Jay” (Gail) Yanek and Cathryn “Tina” (Tim) Krull; his three granddaughters, Sarah Krull, Erica Yanek and Jenna Krull; and his sister, Kathy Drummond. He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Catherine.
A memorial Mass was held for Jere, Friday, February 21, 2025, at Holy Cross Church in Batavia.
Local arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi and Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.
