Judith A. Blunt 1946-2025

POLAND — Judith A. Blunt, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully, Monday, Feb. 10, 2025, just two days shy of her 79th birthday.

Born Feb. 12, 1946, in Youngstown, she spent her life cultivating beauty in both her work and her relationships.

Judy resided in Poland, where she served as a floral specialist and landscaper at the Poland Library, touching the hearts of many through her artistry and dedication to nature. She added that special touch to her garden at home and turned it into a sanctuary where you would never want to leave.

Judy was a member of Boardman United Methodist Church. She shared her knowledge and enthusiasm for gardening as a 4-H adviser for 10 years and was a member of the Mill Creek Flower and Garden Club. Judy also founded her class reunion committee, BFC, providing countless classmates the opportunity to reconnect and celebrate their shared memories.

She visited all the states except for Alaska and was a sun-loving, beach-going person. She also loved dancing, and playing backgammon and rummy. Anyone could count on her to help pass the time chatting it up on a drive, and anywhere she went her outfit matched, from her earrings to her shoes.

Judith is survived by her loving husband, William Blunt, whom she married Nov. 2, 1968; children, Gwynn (Greg) Hunter of Poland and Jason Blunt of Palm Springs, California; four cherished grandchildren, Garett, Gage, Gracie Hunter and Amelia Blunt; her step-granddaughter, Audrey Engvalson, and her son, Fin Engvalson; and her niece, Lisa Wokciak of Austintown.

Judith was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Evelyn Souders Rowe; and her sister, Patricia Hobbs.

In honor of her life, a memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025, at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel.

Family and friends may pay their respects 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mill Creek Flower and Garden Club, 123 McKinley Ave., Youngstown, OH 44509; Hospice of the Valley, 979 Tibbetts Wick Road, Suite A, Girard, OH 44420; or Poland Library, 311 S Main St., Poland, OH 44514.
